Textiles

Have you ever wanted to learn more about stitching, embroidery, lacemaking or patchwork? Would you like to upholster a chair or learn how to make a pair of curtains? Come and learn more about textiles by joining one of our courses. Enrol on one of our courses to learn more. We run courses at different centres, different times and different levels to suit our students.

Clothes/dressmaking

Learn the steps needed to make a garment from the first snip to the final stitch in our dedicated workshop.

Learn more about your sewing machine

This course and the follow-on course will show you how to use your sewing machine to maximum effect.

Embroidery

Whether you enjoy traditional or modern, hand or machine techniques you will find something to interest you in our embroidery classes

Patchwork and Quilting

Take the opportunity to learn patchwork and quilting skills at any level. If you are a beginner, you can learn the basics of quiltmaking. If you are an experienced quilter, you can work on your own project with tutor guidance.

Lacemaking

Learn an old craft and use it in a modern way, gaining the skills and knowledge to make beautiful pieces of bobbin lace; not just edgings and collars but creating pictures, flowers, window hangings and much more

Upholstery and soft furnishing

Do you want to give a new look to an old chair, stool or headboard? Learn how to replace webs and springs and replace covers on our upholstery courses. Our soft furnishing courses are run as practical workshops, giving you hands-on experience on how to mix and match to co-ordinate curtains, loose covers and upholstery.
