Our Mission Statement

Developing individuals and communities by providing accessible, high quality learning opportunities and skills training.

Strategic objectives (revised 2009):

Developing individuals throughout their learner journey

  • Increase the participation of adults in lifelong learning
  • Offer flexible learning opportunities to meet local needs and widen participation
  • Ensure the individual learning needs of learners are recognised and supported
  • Promote progression within the college and to other providers.

Developing communities

  • Engage with hard-to-reach learners within the local communities and marginalised groups
  • Work with partner agencies to support family learning
  • Work with partner agencies to actively promote the learning opportunities available.

Delivering high quality learning opportunities and skills training

  • Embed the use of learning technologies to meet learner needs and enhance the learner journey
  • Provide high standards of teaching and learning
  • Provide high quality governance, leadership and management
  • Ensure staff including governors are appropriately qualified and supported
  • Provide focused training programmes to prepare local people for employment, meeting employer needs and the national and local employer engagement agenda.

Delivering accessible learning opportunities and skills training

  • Provide a safe, secure and healthy environment for learners and staff
  • Provide value for money and ensure financial health
  • Improve the environmental impact of college activities
  • Work with partners to ensure that adults with learning disabilities are able to access progression routes into education, training and employment.
